Ahhh Vacations!

So we've had the best time lately galavanting around. For Victoria Day (the week before Memorial Day) we fled the country to explore Northern Michigan with Kar, Josh, Maddie, and Jake. Sadly, Dave and AJ had to stay behind because of work Dave needed to do. But after a long sigh, we made sure to have a great time in their honor. :) We went to Sleeping Bear Dunes and because of a last minute deal and poor Liza's Tonsillitis, we rented a cottage on the beach. OH YEAH BABY! We had been planning to camp until the day before and never looked back! As it happens, the tent caterpillar had arrived the weekend we were there and it was literally raining caterpillars all around us from the trees. Maddie and I could hardly handle it but everyone else was much tougher and didn't get too grossed out. There was also a gnat hatch and every day we were there they got thicker. The last morning Zach and Kaitlyn went out to our beach and within 2 minutes were running back to the condo because they were so bad. Like our own little Capital One commercial. That said, I mostly just feel like I have to bring a little reality into the virtual world we all felt like we weer living in while we stayed there. It's such a cool place with sand dunes for miles and miles on the shores of Lake Michigan. We played on our beach outside the condo a lot, had a fire pit for the s'mores, played lots on games including Spit which Josh taught Zach and I to play. Had our own Sacrament Meeting together in the condo on Sunday before seeing Mother Natures splendor once more out at the dunes. It was all so memorable and wonderful, but the best part was having all that time together to bond and laugh. My girls LOVE their cousins and are in heaven when they get to be together. The last time we stayed at Dave and Kar's and I was trying to load them up in the car while Kaitlyn kept asking if she could just stay and send me home. It's a PARTY.
