We’ll be home for The Holidays!
We’ve missed FIVE in the last SEVEN years, and we are homesick for you and to be together over the holidays. Dad and I would like to establish the following yearly traditions you can plan on:
1. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner at 1:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day (this year Rick’s and Dan’s families will be with us as well as any of the Salt Lake families who can make it). The traditional story telling of the pilgrims and five kernels of corn and singing The Pilgrims Held A Feast around the piano are a must.
2. The Sunday BEFORE Christmas EVERY year we will have a ham dinner with all the trimmings and peach cobbler at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Bentley traditional Christmas Nativity complete with costumes.
3. Christmas Day Evening dinner (Christmas turkey, orange rolls, pies etc) will be served promptly at 5:00 p.m.! This will be followed by our traditional evening of poetry readings, and talent numbers (we have to hear “Sleigh Ride” and Jimmy and boys guitar rendition of the “Tres Reyes,” Mary singing etc. ) and by our family gift exchange.
4. During the week after Christmas, depending on how many can come from out of town and when, there will be cookie making and decorating, a sledding party, swimming at the pool in Sugar House, and A FAMILY TEMPLE SESSION.
5. NEW YEARS EVE 5:00 p.m. A barbequed rib dinner with all the fixings followed by family games and fireworks to welcome 2011.
We can’t wait! Mary’s family will be coming and rumor has it that maybe Steve’s will be coming. It will be fun to have as many of you as can join us. Much love, Mom and Dad
