Carramba, we have a good life here! The weather has mostly been in the high 60's and los 70's for several weeks, except once when we traveled south 200 miles to Papantla and Poza Rica, where it was in the 80's. But the tropical scenes, ancient ruins and local color made up for the slight discomfort when we left our air-conditioned hotel and car. See Mom's blog for illustrations.
Yesterday, we went to the beach to look for seashells for our nietos (grandkids) and found a lot, many of them in unusual shapes and/or colors. A strong east wind and a high tide brought big waves almost up to where we were walking, leaving lagoons that gradually flowed back into the ocean. We always see lots of seagulls and sandpipers but yesterday 15 or 20 large pelicans flew over us twice in V-shaped formations like canadian geese or USAF fighter pilots. We didn't want to go (Tuesday is our day off from the temple), but it was lucky we left for home when we did because two nice highway patrolmen drove up just as we got back to our car, saying that they had come to check on the new car someone reported was abandoned.
Our service at the temple is peaceful and pleasant, with nice people around us and something meaningful to do all the time. We never feel bored because we're always so busy. Although we miss our family, we can talk to you whenever we want and so we have never really been homesick. Best of all, we have each other all to ourselves all the time. What a great way to retire!
